It's e-waste day here at Google. Time to ditch all my 16MB video cards, 10base2 Ethernet cards, UltraSCSI HBAs (fast 'n wide) and some old tape backup gear.
I might keep the Pentium 2 just for the bed of nails heat sink. Raj Iyengar snagged the Myspace branded Flip video camera with the dead battery.
I guess Die Young was a bad association for your new smartphone?
I never understood why Nokia bothers putting their phones in music videos. It all looks so staged. That said the Ke$ha video is pretty weird. I can understand why they wanted to remove it.

And here's a live album listen from Google Play for people going "Mark who?"
Hi John Colburn / Dennis Boehm -- Do you know each other? In any case I've been pondering how one might take the Spout experience into Google+ via video hangouts and connect with the nascent arts community that's developing here. There's so much potential to do fun things.
If either of you is interested let me know.
In my day MTV actually had music and we liked it!

Jake Rudh posted his pick for Video of the Day and it's ALL MTV idents. Seriously, just one after another for six minutes. He explains,
"Leading up to the MTV event at First Avenue this coming Friday night, Transmission simulates an hour of watching classic MTV from (1981 - 1992) this Thursday at 10pm."
Take a break and revisit the astronauts, the cows, and the animation that looks even stranger now.
Do we parse hResume in PRS? (See comments on original post)
Also some issues with videos FYI.

A really well written, must-read article about Google's Authorship program.
And this applies to anything you author. For example, if you're an open source developer you should definitely link your github profile. Video and photo sites? Same thing.
Most sites are supporting XFN these days so the more links to your Google+ profile, the more often your face will show up next to your content.
The best Electro-Rock band of the moment that's currently helping me burn the candle at both ends. Think Daft Punk crossed with Rage Against the Machine, with a dash of Introduce Yourself era Faith No More.
Their top-10 single is below, but you'll find the rest of their repertoire rocks much harder. Check out Palabra mi Amor for a taste:
SHAKA PONK - Palabra Mi Amor (feat. Bertrand Cantat) [OFFICIAL VIDEO]
Or this set from the Paleo Music Festival:

This is a great little slice of history from the early 90s. Reminds me of the times I saw BiT perform in the 7th Street Entry back in Minneapolis. And it was satisfying to hear them on his show back then too.

We think technology should work for you—to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t.
A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do.
Please follow along as we share some of our ideas and stories. We’d love to hear yours, too. What would you like to see from Project Glass?

If you liked the video you'll like the album even more. At the very least give In for the Kill a listen.
And I see that La Roux has a page here but they haven't done much with it. Consider circling and they might start posting here in addition to twitter/facebook.
[And if you're a musician or rep one I'd be interested in knowing what G+ can do better for you!]
Closing the viral loop: we're slowly getting there. Here's a personal anecdote.
- heard a neat song on the radio
- used Ears to figure out what it was.
- watched the youtube video via Ears link. Liked the 80s-TRONish vibe enough to +1 it.
- Searched for La Roux on the browser, found friends recommending specific tracks.
- back to Ears, go to Play Music.
- Bought the album after listening to recommended tracks.
- Sharing this here (and will on public G+ in a few) so others can discover.
Loops like this are what power your social network. We can still do a better job, but I'm quite happy with my experience here and I hope others will slowly get there too.
discover, consume, share, repeat FTW

Google+ Hangouts: Going beyond the status update
One of the most intimate forms of human connection is eye contact. Our digital tools have given us new forms - text messages, email, status updates - but nothing compares to the richness and intensity of looking into someones eyes as they talk.
Our emphasis on face-to-face-face group video communication has lead to some amazing experiences. By giving this away for free, we've enabled people around the world to see into each others eyes and share discussion and laughter in new ways.
Today, we improve the service significantly.
1) We are enabling you to hangout on any post.
2) We've reached an important milestone for "Hangouts on Air". Hundreds of people (who we have whitelisted as part of our trial) can now broadcast their hangouts to the entire world for free completely self-service. Our goal is to enable this for everyone on the planet.
3) We are making it possible for you to start hangouts from messenger on Android or iPhone devices.
4) You can call any phone number in the world and conference in anyone.
5) We threw in a reindeer :-)

I found a post with "too much information" in my email this morning. Take a moment and consult your circles before you post. You wouldn't want to look foolish like the folks in the video below...

Google+ is the crazy project I'm working on. Would love to hear your opinions on how you and your friends use the product. My eventual goal is to get the entire family signed up and do a 10-way video hangout.
