Memcached 1.4.10 is now out and this release looks to be the best yet. Check out the release notes and send some kudos over to (Hey Dormando, get on G+ already!)
To do my part I just built the fedora RPMs for f15/f16/rawhide. Try it out on your favorite high-volume server.

Jochen Fromm improvements are listed in the release notes linked above. Looking at the commits you can see that performance was big for this release.
As far as Redis goes can't say much since I've never deployed it in a production environment. Seems decent enough, though having it touch a disk in any way gives me pause.
What are the advantages and improvements of the new release? Why is it better than for example Redis?
