And here's the song of the same name by The Suburbs.

A huge shout out to Owen Murphy and John Richards for playing it this morning on KEXP and reminding us that we're not alone!

It's my birthday and the world isn't fooling around, but we can do our best to help out the most vulnerable.

So help each other, be weird, have awe, sing, dance and be human!

Happy 16th Birthday Gmail!

And a reminder of what people used in corp before we had Gmail.

It's live! loving your anecdotes and the narration by @yeahrightpos

I do think it's time for an at-home 'Summer Splash Party' where we put on our swim gear and dance to disco πŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒ.

(check out the clip at 20:24!)

Thank you Dominik, I have been blessed with a treasure of digital memories to rediscover and share. So glad that you were able to enjoy my journey through the archives.

Something about these times that I feel your loss as my own. πŸ’”

Thank you for connecting the community and being there for everyone, as Ralph was there for you.

We'll all probably remember the first friend who contracted COVID-19. For me that's Andrea. She wrote about it on her Tinyletter.

Please read, if only to prepare yourself for what is to come.

Not to be grim about it but everyone may want to consider doing your paperwork for medical power of attorney and/or a health directive. At the very least partners should consider adding each other as trusted "https://healthy.kaiserpermanente.org/health-wellness/life-care-plan/choose-agent" (which is what Kaiser calls it). You'd be able to access tests and communicate with Doctors on behalf of each other.

Having gone through this I feel very fortunate that I was able to make medical decisions for another and knew what the right thing was to do.

Thank you for letting me share Julie's memories, tacky postcards and all, with everyone.

If anyone reading this has suffered a similar loss, please feel free to reach out for a sympathetic ear or for help finding memories in the archives. DMs open.

Actually with some tweaks I got all the grunge list content I was looking for!

Still think it would be awesome if the backup tapes were found. @herf wrote a great article about the lyrics part of the site:

Thank you for your sympathy and for all the work you've done to make @PerkeepOrg into a such a useful tool for personal digital preservation.

Honored that I was able to tell my story of restoration and healing on the @internetarchive blog today.

Thank you @whanamura and the IA team for your compassion and for preserving so many cherished memories of my life with @jflindner.

Aha. swore that I already checked. So yay!

But sadly... many/most of the leaf pages are empty or truncated. So sad :(

The quest continues!

A challenge to the data hoarders out there. Find the contents of the amazing music archive that one lived at archive.uwp.edu (FTP or Gopher) and was mirrored to mirrors.aol.com.

2001/2008 vibes

Walking through an empty office took me back to 2001 as I survived seven layoffs and three office moves at Critical Path. Serious triggering moment.

Recommend that folks have a Plan B, and start building support networks now.

The whole global economy is fragile and over-leveraged, and we've already used up most financial engineering tools available in 2008.

US folks should consider updating wageworks for commuter benefits.

Blaming the IRS for your poorly engineered software is sad. Most people can e-file.

Instead please:

1. Apologize for the problem.
2. Tell us when it will be fixed.
3. Remove the flippant smiley from your signature.

Looks like Adam Curry spoke about Internet Gopher on the Rogan Podcast, so I had to dig this out of the email archives from September '93

If you want you can refer to case It's closed, but should have details.

Intuit/TurboTax has a market cap of $74B, and just spent $7B to buy Credit Karma. They can afford to hire people to manually fix these returns...

Heather -- please read the full thread (there are three pages of unhappy customers) It's a bug in Turbotax and it needs to be fixed.

Sending people who have experienced a loss to read IRS forms is just cruel.
