Solution: Nudge curators to share their family circle.
- Compute the Family circle sizes for all the people in your family circle
- If you have the largest circle prompt to share your Family circle to your Family circle.
Caveats: obviously if you're married/divorced your family circle might be disjoint, which means that there will be unrelated people.

I think there's some interesting research one could do on the virality of the photo you see below.
The sad fact is that my wife found this photo in her twitter feed because WIlliam Gibson tweeted a link to the flickr page. I searched for his name on Google+ and found him and was the first reshare, after that it spread quite nicely.
I suspect there's similar spread on Facebook, twitter retweets, flickr and other networks.
In any case I'm really enjoying following the ripples for this post and watching it spread throughout G+.

Actually, I would say you've found a swarm. They are out looking for a new place to call home. The queen is in there somewhere.
Sometimes a new queen will take a group from an existing hive, and venture out on her own to make a new hive. Other times, a whole hive will relocate for various reasons. (not enough food source in former location, destruction of hive, etc...)

You have a problem running macos NFS Lion via a firewall. You decide to use nfsv4. After a few hours you have five problems.
I knew I was in trouble when all my searches led to the following and nowhere else. (In the end I used fixed rpc port numbers and nfsv3, ugh..)
Also I'm curious if anyone has gotten nfsv4 working with the latest Lion and latest Fedora (or or other kernel 3.3 based systems)
When doing anything mac-specific I get tons of 'nfs recovery' and 'jukebox' errors...
And all this time, I thought macs were supposed to "just work" ;)
nfsv4 is a bit of an interoperability horror story, adding resource forks and extended attributes only makes it more painful.
Still -- I wish this would work, I hate all the finder dot-files and would prefer if they were stored in the filesystem directly as xattrs...

Closing the viral loop: we're slowly getting there. Here's a personal anecdote.
- heard a neat song on the radio
- used Ears to figure out what it was.
- watched the youtube video via Ears link. Liked the 80s-TRONish vibe enough to +1 it.
- Searched for La Roux on the browser, found friends recommending specific tracks.
- back to Ears, go to Play Music.
- Bought the album after listening to recommended tracks.
- Sharing this here (and will on public G+ in a few) so others can discover.
Loops like this are what power your social network. We can still do a better job, but I'm quite happy with my experience here and I hope others will slowly get there too.

So you want to go to Google I/O this year? Last year it sold out in one hour, so you'll want to be prepared. Register for Google Wallet and Google+ before 7AM PDT March 27.
Man, I wish I could go. One year I'll find a way to get a trip out there.
I've enjoyed the 2 times I've went, was a lot of bang for the buck.. But the price this year kinda kills that.
There will be other ways of getting I/O tickets for actual devs. Add Google Developers to your circles to get updates on how and when!
You might also consider going to a Google-Developer-Day instead. All the dev goodness closer to you and less schwag hounds.. 2012 schedule should be announced at some point, here's the highlights from 2011.

We've got work to do.
I just spent a week in the Palm Springs area attending the Indian Wells tennis tourney while using our products. It was good to get outside the bubble for while, but it was frustrating -- especially since I know we can do much better. Issues I encountered:
* Public Google+ shares are rare. This might be expected with the demographics of the area (>50 year old golfers) -- however looking at my G+ nearby view I was the only person to publicly post the winner of the Tennis final (and that stadium holds 16k people...) Nearby stream was depressingly too -- only a handful of posts. Also I think the nearby view should expand distance in "sprawl-like" areas like this. When I was in Palm Springs I didn't see any nearby posts in the nearby towns.
* During the rain delay you had to look at the Facebook Tournament page to find out when play resumed. On-site they had a big 'Check-in with Facebook' ad on the changeable displays. On the 'Follow Us' screen they did at least have Youtube next to FB/twitter.
* Maps is really borked in this area. I commented on this earlier, but there are many businesses that are not there, or are located in the wrong place. MapMaker edits in the area are in queue for weeks it appears too. Navigation worked fairly well, however I encountered areas where nav got really confused -- not sure if the root cause is Mountains blocking GPS, plain crappy samsung GPS or that road info is not accurate.
* There are some weird Business names that must have been collected by Street View. For example _Elmer's Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner_ which is a literal reading of the road sign.
