While the activity log at https://plus.google.com/apps/activities/from/i9 is nice for keeping track of posts you +1'd it contained too little information to be really useful, so I whipped up a chrome extension that rectifies this "issue" by fetching profile picture and a small text snippet for each of the posts via the Google+ API. This only works for public posts but from my experiments it seems that only public posts ever get added to the activities anyway. The extension still needs a bit of testing and clean-up, but I'll open-source it soon :)

PS. I've all sent feedback that this should be the default behaviour without the need for extra scripts :)

PPS. Source now available you want to give it a try - https://github.com/Scarygami/gplus-experiments/tree/master/better%20%2B1%20log

I got an email from the Google + platform team saying that there was a problem with our implementation. The email however didn't contain any specifics, just some links to common issues. I've spotted 2 small things that might be the issue. Thing is I do not want to address what might be an issue only to have it turn out that I missed something for fixed something that wasn't broken.

So the question is where do I go / who do I talk to to get specifics?

Little known fact.  All royal births require launchcal approval.

_It doesn't look like we're going to get launch calendar approval before EOD today. API team, please grant 100K QPD for now, to ensure that we do not block the birth of the Royal Baby._

Juhan says hi!

Here's my neighbor Juhan.  He's a Google fan that  suffers from Macular Degeneration. Every other week I help him with his old Windows XP rig that somehow resets the font sizes back to stock.

He's still on AOL, which doesn't support larger font sizes.  So when he receives a "letter" he opens it, selects Forward and uses the message editor to boost the font size.  He tried switching to Comcast (Zoho?) Mail but it was a big fail.

Otherwise he does pretty well with video sites, Newspapers and Skype.  Watching him use technology has been very instructive.  I learned a lot watching him cope with various web sites.

Despite not using our products he's a big fan of Google and wishes us all the best!

Two questions come to mind:
- Google, master of the links, should've done this first
- It will probably get spammed to death, but that's a fairly easy problem to solve...

Unexpected pleasure - Google Now and All Access let me know about new releases that I would have forgotten about.  In the past week it's highlighted a new single from M.I.A., the new CSS album and this gem from Austra.

Now we know why all the Noogler Helium balloons were replaced with pinwheels!

Congrats @105461895807395473744!

Couple of little things:
- Can you spec a better image for the snippet?
- Perhaps add more detail in your title?
- Add a rel="publisher" attribute to your Google+ page link.

Great new feature that makes it easier for people to follow your Google+ page from your newsletters and notifications.

In the past you had to add and verify all your sender email addresses (which were often [email protected]). Now the email hostname just needs to match your verified website, which is much easier.

Customers can now follow you directly from Gmail

Today we're expanding the Gmail people widget to include brands and businesses (http://goo.gl/wx2mI), making it easier for your customers to connect with you on Google+. This way, when people receive emails from your domain, they can follow your Google+ page directly from their inbox! Your recent Google+ posts can also appear in the widget (alongside your email message), helping customers find and engage with your content.

To appear in the new Gmail widget, all your business or organization needs is a verified Google+ page and digitally-signed emails. Check out this page to learn more: https://support.google.com/plus/answer/3190197

I was talking to Brett Slatkin about authorship and he mentioned the Google Consumer surveys offers an A/B image survey that would be perfect for Authorship profile photo optimization.

You also get geographic/demographic breakdowns so I suspect that it's a good deal more informative than the OK Cupid bestface system.

Do you send out emails with a noreply address?
Do you have a plus page?

Then you should consider getting your mappings added to the following bug so people can follow your page when they're reading your email updates.

I wasn't aware of this change to tracking functionality.  I'll see if we can add some of this to the docs or provide an easy way to activate this tracking.

Care about standards? From my comment from Jeff Dean's post at http://plus.google.com/112317652221071509598/posts/Wd1SamQcvpQ

Here's some things you can do to support standards at Google:

-- Look at the pages your team generates the way Googlebot does:

http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets

Add standard schema.org and html5 markup.

-- Discuss standards with the scant 200 other Googlers at  http://g/standards-discuss

-- Participate in a standards mailing list/group.  Plenty available for individuals at IETF or W3C.  See standards-discuss if you want to participate as a Googler on corp-oriented bodies.  Standards often suck because they're written by the standards/industrial complex instead of actual implementors.

-- Participate in an open-source project that implements a standard.  These reference implementations are often poorly or insecurely coded.  (For example a few people contributing to Apache Oltu would make Java OAuth that much better)

-- Consider exposing your amazing well-crafted stubby API via Apiary.  Be extra careful to not break compatibility for a whole year.   Write lots of integration and conformance tests.

-- Be like Vint.  Suit up.

-- Above all have fun!

http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets

Broadening distribution.  Syncing up the Moments API (aka History API) with schema.org actions and the recent changes for inbox activities would benefit us all.

I highly recommend taking some time to set up your own Adwords campaign.  It's eye-opening.

There are things I like.  [targeted emails are genuinely helpful and intelligent based on your situation]

And things that are not so great.  [some confusing web UI for newbies, some difficulty getting keyword/landing page quality matched to bids]

Anyone interested in a structured data/markup/schema group to coordinate external facing efforts?

It seems that we're moving in the same directions:

- Publisher Markup (authorship/schema)
- Interactive Posts for Google+
- Moments API
- Inbox Actions (JSON-LD)
- Tools (SDTT, markup helper)

If interested you can plus people into this thread and I'll create a G+ community with these people as seed members...

Content Recommendations for Your Mobile Website

When you help someone find a great article on your site, you’re not only making them happier, you’re inspiring deeper engagement and loyalty. That's why today, we're bringing together elements of Google+ and Google Search to suggest the right content from your mobile website, at just the right time.

For example: Forbes visitors can now more easily discover other Forbes articles based on Search Authorship, signals and other articles with lots of Google+ activity (including +1's and shares). In all cases, recommended content is based on the specific page the visitor is viewing, to boost the relevance of recommendations. And they only appear when people tap for more, so as not to interrupt their browsing experience.

Very interesting on a lot of fronts!

Looks like we're not quite   for image filtering.

TL;DR -- SIte displays porn content from freebase/knowledge graph that violates AdSense ToS.

_A quite strange thing happened recently. I have a news website and I'm using Freebase API to provide readers for more in depth information about the content of news articles.  The site runs Google's AdSense ads._

_Following the publication of a local news, on the sidebar containing text and images downloaded through Freebase API, an image of a woman with her bare breasts was displayed._

_Well, that image, made available by Freebase, which is a Google product, was considered obscene by the team of AdSense (also a Google product), which decided to suspend the service. A sort of vicious circle of Google, exercising a censorship on itself._

_Given the impossibility to make Google people understand that the visualization of such kind of images was occasional and not intentional, I'd prefer to avoid such problems in the future. Hence, I'd like to know whether there's some way, when using Freebase API, to filter out images considered obscene by the AdSense team._

Is there anything we can do to help hacked Wordpress installations that have pharma ads?  As you can see below it's impacting sharing to G+:

http://presidiosocialclub.com/
https://spore.corp.google.com/#!s=d070e83cd3d49444

This has been going on for *years*, I've personally had to burn down and rebuild many WP blogs for friends.  (and multiple times due to backdoors).   (Read more about it at http://blog.aw-snap.info/2011/02/pharmacy-hack.html)

What can we do?  Are we still running netagent to detect spam cloaking?  Can we detect spammy links/text and refetch?  Should Google+ ignore spore and just refetch using it's own user-agent (ick!)?
