Thanks for adding me back, fun times over here in Google+ land.
Lots of great stuff here. Dan Wilson performing Semisonic classics, new solo stuff, commercial jingles with Fred Willard and a great version of the song he wrote for Adele - Someone Like You.

I was always a fan of John Peel. Now you can follow the John Peel Archive on Google+.
Good new for Typepad bloggers! It's now much easier to get your Google+ profile to appear next to your blog posts in search.
Here's what you do:
- Edit your Typepad settings:
- Select Google+ from the Add an account popup:
enter your Google+ 21 digit identifier.
- Add a link to your Typepad profile from your Google+ profile
Edit your Other Profiles section.
In a few days you'll start seeing your name and face next to your Blog posts in search. Check out the example below to see what it looks like.
Enjoy!
A bit tired of wordpress security issues. I've had to help friends get upgraded after they got _pharma'd_ and today the LinkedIn blog was compromised. What's funny is that they reset my LinkedIn account in addition to my WP account..
[and no I didn't realize that I still had access to the LinkedIn blog :)]

I was pondering about how pop music is tuned for mp3 dynamic range this morning and came up with an idea:
Google Play Musicgram
Just imagine:
- AM Radio effect for all your Sinatra songs.
- See what Elvis would sound like autotuned.
- "Chipmunk" Barry White. (or chipmunk Cyndy Lauper and see if your dog can hear it..)
- RPM 33,45,78 (for those that remember such things.)
- Def setting (adds random DJ scratching)
Or we standardize something like this as "html5 audio transforms".

Yahoo social APIs down for 8h -- no contact imports for us!
It was obviously a software push on their end. I could see the clusters updating in our graphs in stages.
Anyone have a backchannel? I've escalated through their NOC and I'm not getting anywhere...

Panoramio now has rel="me", rel="contact" and rel="author" in all the right places.
The back story is even more interesting.
Maybe Jean-Yves Stervinou has seen them in Nantes?

Milk bottles are great, except for the drips when you pour. The folks at Chow restaurant came up with a bottle top that fixes this annoying problem. Just ask, they'll sell you one for a dollar.
They really should sell this online, I was unable to find anything comparable.
And look what we have here.. XFN for dead-people profiles.
rel="friend" seems a bit macabre.
[ do note that they're using all the html5 markup they can.]

IDF'able?
Goal: Propagate family information
Insight: there's usually a member of the family that is the master curator of the family tree.
Solution: Nudge curators to share their family circle.
- Compute the Family circle sizes for all the people in your family circle
- If you have the largest circle prompt to share your Family circle to your Family circle.
Caveats: obviously if you're married/divorced your family circle might be disjoint, which means that there will be unrelated people.

I don't comment on ongoing legal issues with my employer. However I think we can all agree that this is one awful sketch artist.
Nice to see that Anil uploaded this to Soundcloud. This hold music is permanently seared into my brain after many years of using freeconferencecall.com..

A great deal @$3.99 for people in the US. Although I must say I like the original Hanging on the Telephone by The Nerves just as much:
The Nerves - Hanging On The Telephone, Original version 45, Blondie. 1976.
Minnesota Public Radio is doing some inventive stuff. They have a great alternative music station in The Current and they're running this great Music/Comedy series called Wits. Check out the segment below for a taste.
You can see all three stages here. Check it out.

Can we get the licensing rights to this?

I think there's some interesting research one could do on the virality of the photo you see below.
The sad fact is that my wife found this photo in her twitter feed because WIlliam Gibson tweeted a link to the flickr page. I searched for his name on Google+ and found him and was the first reshare, after that it spread quite nicely.
I suspect there's similar spread on Facebook, twitter retweets, flickr and other networks.
In any case I'm really enjoying following the ripples for this post and watching it spread throughout G+.

A damn fine first post on Google+
And quite a storm we had last night too!

One of the best things about aging another year is receiving interesting new midwestern music birthday presents. This includes a CD from Red Pens out of Minneapolis.
Also gotta love the 8-bit flair on the Grain Belt Records site!
Do you have a Panoramio account?
Consider adding a link your Google+ profile here
Then add your Panoramio account to your Google+ profile (in the Other Profiles section). When linked both ways it will enable people in your circles to find your Panoramio content in personalized search.
[Note: This works for most sites supporting authorship that include profile pages.]
This is just so amazing.

We think technology should work for you—to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t.
A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do.
Please follow along as we share some of our ideas and stories. We’d love to hear yours, too. What would you like to see from Project Glass?

Some more La Roux to start out your Wednesday. I didn't think the Kanye remix added much, but the rest are deserving of the word Gold.
You have a problem running macos NFS Lion via a firewall. You decide to use nfsv4. After a few hours you have five problems.
I knew I was in trouble when all my searches led to the following and nowhere else. (In the end I used fixed rpc port numbers and nfsv3, ugh..)
Thanks for the birthday wishes (and for not pranking me, like Google does every year!) The shorts have already been worn a fair bit and are really nice. Happy to hear that John's trip is going well and can't wait to have you out here in Oakland!

Music and comedy-- streaming now. Highly recommended.
Maybe next year we can get Google maps for C64 character graphics :)

Finally.
If you liked the video you'll like the album even more. At the very least give In for the Kill a listen.
And I see that La Roux has a page here but they haven't done much with it. Consider circling and they might start posting here in addition to twitter/facebook.
[And if you're a musician or rep one I'd be interested in knowing what G+ can do better for you!]
It seems like I missed a whole trend of 80s revival music back in 2009.
[I can't wait until I discover dubstep in 2014!]
Closing the viral loop: we're slowly getting there. Here's a personal anecdote.
- heard a neat song on the radio
- used Ears to figure out what it was.
- watched the youtube video via Ears link. Liked the 80s-TRONish vibe enough to +1 it.
- Searched for La Roux on the browser, found friends recommending specific tracks.
- back to Ears, go to Play Music.
- Bought the album after listening to recommended tracks.
- Sharing this here (and will on public G+ in a few) so others can discover.
Loops like this are what power your social network. We can still do a better job, but I'm quite happy with my experience here and I hope others will slowly get there too.
discover, consume, share, repeat FTW
